There is a brochure you can pick up at TAT offices or at any of the seven promoted attractions that offers discounts. The press release says the discounts vary from 5% to 50%. We don’t know the specifics but we plan to pick up a copy shortly and will add some details in a followup post.

What we do know is that the seven Khao Yai destinations they are promoting are Palio, PB Valley Winery, Gran Monte Winery, Chok Chai Farm, Outlet Mall, Greenery Life Park and Khao Yai National Park. The promotion lasts until October 31.

PB Valley Khao Yai Winery has opened a new shop for wine enthusiasts at Palio Khao Yai.  The PB Valley Shop is open daily and offers some of the fine wines and other products from the nearby winery.

Palio walking street in Khao Yai is a hit with Bangkok people who make the trip up, particularly on long weekends, the browse the shops and alley ways of this small replica of an Italian village. Now they can stay right in the center of it at a boutique hotel called Palio Inn.

The hotel has 12 rooms that are a mix of Standard, Superior and Deluxe class with prices starting at 2,100 baht for low season weekday and ranging up to 4,200 baht for the Deluxe room on a holiday weekend. Palio Inn is designed in the same style of the rest of the village with that old Italian village look and feel. The pricing is similar to the other higher end resorts in the area so if your budget is in that range you might give it a look.

Nowhere else in Thailand are they this many wineries in close proximity that produce fine quality wines. Here is a short description of each with links to the wineries’ websites.

Granmonte

Located in the Asoke Valley next to Khao Yai National Park is Granmonte Estate. Granmonte produces Syrah and Chenin Blanc wines that are very drinkable. The winery is easy to reach with signs that clearly mark the turn off from Thanon Klut Khaa.

PB Valley

With 800 acres of grapes surrounded by mountains PB Valley is an impressive vineyard. The cool weather during winter months assures grapes of the highest quality for their Pirom and PB Khao Yai wines. A hotel and newly-opened restaurant are located at the vineyard. The PB Valley Syrah is excellent. It is located close to Gran Monte and is also easy to find.

Siam Winery

Famous for their floating vineyard at the Chao Praya delta, Siam Winery also has vineyards located at higher altitudes in Kaeng Koi near Khao Yai.

Village Farm

Offering a selection of premium wines is Village Farm Winery located in Wang Nam Keow. The winery is dramatically built into the mountainside at over 500 meters above sea-level and the European country atmosphere makes it an ideal place for visitors to come and stay. Their wines are sold under the Chateau des Brumes and Village Thai labels.
