Dusit D2 Hotel in Khao Yai

A Dusit hotel is being built at the Phuphatara development that is next to the plot of land we previously offered called Khiang Dao Khao Yai. Plans are for a 79 room hotel to be opened in late 2014. In addition to the hotel there will be villas, condomiums, restaurant, meeting room and spa at the Phuphatara development.

The new owners of the land at Khiang Dao must be very pleased by this announcement as it is sure to raise property prices in the area. Already we are seeing asking prices above four million baht per rai along the main road near the entrance to the Phuphatara development. With three luxury class anchors of Toscana Valley, Kirimaya and now Phuphatara along the road from Khao Yai National Park toward Wang Nam Khiao we expect further property price appreciation. New hospital under construction in Pak Chong

Another blogger who keeps up with Thailand’s medical tourism industry is reporting that a new branch of the Bangkok Hospital Group is under construction in Pak Chong. You may recall that last October we heard rumors that a new Moo Sii medical facility was going to be built. However, we never saw any work start and haven’t heard anything about it until now.

The latest rumor is that construction has already started but the facility isn’t in Moo Sii. Instead it is near the Fashion Outlet mall on Mittraphap Road. We haven’t confirmed anything ourselves, just hoping that this is true because it will be a big boost to the area if a large private hospital opens.

Update: Well, it seems attempts to confirm this rumor have failed. In fact, one doctor at the clinic in Pak Chong says that although there are plans to build a new facility in the area they are probably two years away from starting construction.

Muthi Maya number 7 most romantic bedroom

An interesting new list is out, the 10 most romantic bedrooms in the world. And at number 7 on the list is Muthi Maya Khao Yai, the new residences by Kirimaya that are across the street from Khao Yai Land View. The area is certainly becoming famous. Smart investors are getting in now.

The list is mentioned on ArabNews.com, a nice romantic ad at GoGoood and mentioned on Thai Hotel and Blues Farm.

The Cold Mountain nearly sold out

One of the new developments in the area near Khao Yai Land View goes by the name of The Cold Mountain. This is a development of modern style homes on smallish lots (100 to 200 square wah) with prices starting at 5.2 million baht (house and land) for their smallest floorplan. Bare land is 10,000 to 13,000 baht per square wah. If that seems a little pricey it shouldn’t – it is nearly sold out, another indicator of the rapidly appreciating land prices in the area.

Khao Yai Land View is across the street from The Cold Mountain, set back approximately 400 meters from the main road. Smart buyers of Land View got their land for 4,000 baht per square wah. If you want more land and space between houses, rather than being so close to your neighbors that you can look right into their kitchens, then Land View might be for you. You can also build a home that suits your tastes rather than choosing from a narrow set of approved plans.

Only one plot left in Land View and it is still 4,000 4,200 baht per square wah as of the date of this post (prices on the rise, hurry!). How long it will remain at that price is uncertain given the rise in prices of nearby land.

Palio at Juladis Khao Yai

If you haven’t been to the Khao Yai area recently you will be surprised at some of the impressive new developments. By the end of the year we will have a walking street shopping and eating area called Palio next to the well known Juladis resort. With dozens of shops and restaurants it promises to be a real landmark of the area. Much of the space has already been booked in advance as this map of the center from early October 2009 shows.

It looks like it will give a big boost to the local restaurant scene. We have a number of good restaurants already in the area (see Local Eats) and now we will have even more variety. Some nicer services will be moving into Palio, including a nail salon some interesting boutiques.

The architecture is interesting and is strikingly similar to Primo Posto. That is no accident because the owner of Primo Posto is a partner with Juladis on the Palio development.

New ATMs in town

Development in the area continues and more modern conveniences are appearing all the time. Until last year you had to drive to Pak Chong to find an ATM. Last year the PTT station near Thanarat Road Km7 opened with a Krung Thai ATM. That cut about 10 minutes off the drive to an ATM. Then earlier this year a Bangkok Bank ATM was installed at the police kiosk at the turn to Baan Rai, a big boost in convenience. And now there is a SCB ATM at the intersection of Thanarat and Kutkhlaa. So now no matter where you are in the Moo Sii and Khao Yai Land View area there is an ATM just minutes away.

Rumored plan for Bangkok Hospital Clinic

There have been some rumors that the land across from the Moo Sii subdistrict office has been cleared in preparation for a new clinic that will be another branch of the Bangkok Hospital Group. There is currently a Bangkok Hospital Clinic in Pak Chong. On a recent visit there we asked one of the doctors if he knew anything about plans for a new clinic in Moo Sii. He wasn’t clear about what he knew, just saying something about the land has not been purchased yet, and that they are continuing to outfit the facility in Pak Chong with new and upgraded equipment. It sounded like something is in the works but it is not public yet.

So we don’t know if the rumors are true but we are hoping that they do go ahead and construct a modern medical facility in the Moo Sii area.
